Cottonwood is located along the Verde River, one of the last wild rivers in Arizona. Cottonwood is home to approximately 10,000 people. It is the medical and shopping hub of the Verde Valley. The Verde Valley comprises 714 square miles of land. Only 17% of the land is privately held. Most public land is in the Prescott National Forest and the Coconino National Forest.
Cottonwood Arizona began as a trading stop for the soldiers at Camp Verde and the miners in Jerome.
